Broadway Baptist church has been at the heart of Chesham for well over 300 years, and is an active town centre church seeking to serve the local community. Our Sunday worship service is at 10:30am each week, but there's a lot more going on in and around the church throughout the week. Take a look at our what goes on page to find out more.

Lead Minister

Originally from Norfolk, I arrived in Chesham in August 2016 with my family from Milton Keynes to take up post as the minister at Broadway Baptist Church. Although starting my working life as a nurse in A&E, my career took a very different path after the birth of our children, Joseph and Emily, and following an encounter with God on Sizewell beach in Suffolk.

Supported by my husband Ian (a teacher), I trained as a Baptist minister at Spurgeon's College in south London whilst working in a very small rural Baptist church in Essex. Upon completing my degree, I moved with my family to Milton Keynes, where for seven years I was the minister at Christ The King Community Church. Being a Norwich girl, I support Norwich City and enjoy getting to matches when I can. I appreciate all sorts of music and enjoy concerts, and festivals. In my spare time I like cooking, particularly curries and homemade pasta, and also walking with my dog. Although I wouldn't call myself an artist, I appreciate art and especially tracking down great artwork on holidays; which, if I had my way, would be taken in Italy most of the time! When time allows, I also go for the occasional run. I am a strong believer in the importance of the church being a positive and active presence, serving their community

The current building here at Broadway dates back to 1901 - upon opening, it was stated to be "the largest non-conformist building in Buckinghamshire, providing accommodation for 1 000 people". However, the origins of our church congregation go back to at least 1712, when the General Baptist Chapel was built on the Broadway.

Links & Mission

We are members of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and fall within the Central Baptist Association area.

As a church, we maintain strong links with missionaries working for BMS World Mission, and support a wide range of organisations working locally, regionally and internationally. We believe that this is an important part of living in the world as God calls us to, and puts into practice our principles "to love, to grow, to go".
